How to Create a Selfie Video

Video has taken centre stage on our social media platforms! Everywhere I turn I see the good, the bad, the ugly. Everybody has their own reasons to hit the ‘record’ button! If it’s not a prank, or a dancing cats video it’s a highly intimate moment of two individuals (“will you marry me?”- kinda scenario) or a disguised sales message.

Video has come such a long way! Most everybody can hire a videographer, can get a great video-equipment – bargain on Amazon or hit record on their phone!

It takes guts to put yourself in front of a camera. It takes courage to be who you are- and portray yourself that way! The name of the game in 2016 is called honesty, transparency and meaningfulness! It doesn’t need to be perfect, it doesn’t need to be flawless. We are all perfectly imperfect human beings who relate to other perfectly imperfect humans on a grander level than to any manufactured, botoxed, Barbie doll.

Over the last two years I made the jump from standing in front of the camera, presenting my you tube channel MOtherpreneur TV, to being the creator of beautiful videos for countless others. It has been an interesting ride to say the least. But more importantly, there are a few basic tidbits I like the share with you to make sure you really look and sound like the Dynamic woman you are!

Here we go:

Keep camera shake to a minimum!

If you insist on recording a selfie, limit the time to 30 seconds. Afterwards, the camera shake is too much.

If one of your friends is filming tell her/him to keep the camera close to the body – it reduces camera shake as well.

Solution: Place your phone on a rock, a tree stump, place it with double tape on your office wall.

Look straight into the camera – looking up you’re in danger of letting us see your nose hair, looking down is unflattering- think double chin.

During filming, don’t zoom in, rather walk slowly towards the subject.

The best time to film is in the morning or in the late afternoon (the golden hour).

Smile!

It suits everybody. If I don’t smile I simply look ‘not as good as with a smile!’ And this has nothing to do with not loving or accepting myself the way I look. It’s a fact! And I’m very OK with it!

We all have a preferred profile side. Let somebody else film you from both sides and decide for yourself which one it is!

Happy filming Dynamos! If you want or need any more tips or you need a professionally video done, please reach out! I’m always happy to help!
